Senator Obama is right to distance himself from his former pastor's remarks without completely disowning him. Too many demagogues get away with turning these types of situations into media circuses that force artificial contrition and resignations. But the fact is that it is the Clinton campaign's dirty tricks that are causing this media focus right now because they continue to desperately search for any way to sink Obama's rising ship. The Clintons would apparently prefer to cause Obama to lose the presidency to McCain rather than give up in the face of a mathematically impossible chance of winning. This is sad because, for the first time in many generations, the two parties appear to have supported candidates who are out-of-step with the corrupt insiders of each party and are instead following the will of the American people while adhering to their values. Rather than allowing an interesting McCain versus Obama general election debate to occur, the Clintons now appear ready to continue to use every dishonest and disgusting political tactic in their playbook in an attempt to salvage their obvious rejection by the majority of Democratic Party voters. America will surely see a brighter day when they are no longer a factor on the political scene.
