COLUMN: 03-12-2008

It's a sad day for justice in America. Revelations of New York Governor Elliott Spitzer's involvement with a prostitution ring will unfortunately be his legacy unless a miraculous comeback occurs in the future. All of the good he did in terms of confronting monopolies and Wall Street corruption (and it was a lot of good) will be forgotten and propagandized by his enemies as the evil actions of a hypocrite. There doesn't appear to anyone waiting in the wings to take on this role and so the corruption will continue to reign as long as there is money to be gained and the only checks and balances will be the recessions that will occur when some large investors cash in their gains at the expense of many others (such as the current situation with the failure of bad mortgages).
